Opening in September 2008, Green School offers a holistic International Curriculum for students from Preschool and Kindergarten through Year Eight with pending International Baccalaureate (IB) accreditation. Green School seeks to ignite a passion for learning, inspiring its students to be curious, self-motivated, enthusiastic participants in their education both on the campus and within a global community. Drawing upon a rigorous curriculum that educates the whole student with unique opportunities to link learning to life, we provide the foundation for life-long moral and intellectual growth. Dedicated teachers, a challenging program of study, and an inspirational learning environment enable every child to succeed.

Green School will serve as a model to local and international communities not only in how we educate our students about sustainability, but in how profoundly environmental concerns are integrated into our learning, philosophy, and daily lives. We invite you to come visit our campus and experience a guided tour of the Green School campus. Please contact our Admissions staff at admissions@greenschool.org for more information or to schedule your visit. Our beautiful eight-hectare Kul-Kul Campus is located in Sibang Kaja, Bali, 15 minutes north of Denpasar or 20 minutes south of Ubud.

HOUSING:

Housing is available at all price levels. Many expats live in and around Seminyak and the Kerobokan area. There are also lots of rentals in the Sanur area. Ditto Renon which is not that far from Sanur but on the non-beach side of the by pass. Houses are both one and two stories, some have Balinese flavor, some have pools.

Lots of classified ads in the local paper, Bali Pos, as well as the paper no expat can do without: The Bali Advertiser. It has grown to 56 pages and comes out, free, every two weeks. EATING OUT - Restaurants in Bali

Really not an issue in Bali. Just choose the area you want to eat in. Kuta is full of restaurants, likewise Sanur and Ubud. Types: vegetarian (Aromas in Kuta), Chinese all over the place, Indian - mostly Kuta and Sanur, Japanese - three or four branches of Riyoshi, Kafe Batu Jimbar. For salady lunches - Sanur, Kafe Batu Jimbar, for open air dinners, La Luciola on the beach in Seminyak for Italian, Warisan is not to be missed but reservations are now necessary for dinner. Ubud has the wonderful Batan Waru and Terazo, same owners. Also Tukmak, Indus and super unusual Lamak. Warung Murni is worth it for the view of the ravine. If you really want to get OUT, try Kampung Kafe in Tegallang, north of Ubud.

Fast food - well, the usual: McDonalds, Pizza Hut, Kentucky, Baskins & Robbins, Hagen Daas, Dunkin Donuts, Krispy Kreme …

THINGS NOT TO MISS

JENGGALA: PT Jenggala Keramik on the Uluwatu II road in Jimbaran. Aside from a wonderful selection of ceramics, wood and silver chopsticks, glassware, there is a small café and a gallery with exhibits changing about every 3 months.

WATERBOM: a great complex of water activities with several food outlets. One of a kind water slides including the macaroni tube. Open daily. Jl Dewi Sartika. 755-676

NEKAa MUSEUM: Ubud. Great collection of a variety of artists and styles.

THREADS OF LIFE: a shop and an organization. The shop is in Ubud, on Jl. Kajeng near the palace. You can see different types of weaving and get an idea from books and brochures about the tremendous work Jean and William are doing to bring back old techniques of weaving and dying in several parts of eastern Indonesia. They commission work to sell in the USA to bring back funds to do more. A great idea and one that certainly needed doing - just in time before the skills die off totally.
